Just curious, going to a profile from the Chat results in this link:

instead of the simple:
http://www.wargear.net/players/info/Toaster
Is that intended?

Yes that is intended - it's a workaround to get the link working properly.
As regards the chatrooms, there was a problem initially with them but they should be working fine, Vataro and I tested them out. As regards the focus changes, not sure what is causing that.
Mongrel - will PM you separately.

I love it too, but I wish we could detach and move individual conversations. They definitely get in the way of games.
The Chat bar gets placed underneath the Board Designer Flash player.
So, on my desktop (Firefox latest version, Win XP) the chatrooms work fine (at least the lobby does). However, on my laptop (Firefox latest version, Win 7 64 bit) the panel to the right that is supposed to have the different rooms (lobby, etc.) is just black. Any thoughts?
And because I enjoy posting screenshots for no reason:
Should the Chat rooms show who's in them? Seems like they should, but I don't see any.
That would also be nice. I actually think it would be cool if it could automatically put people in the lobby, and have the chatroom have a new message notification like there are with individual chats. Then, the list of people in the lobby would just be the list of people online :P.
Also, what's the point of this chat feature if Tom's never on for me to constantly bug him with questions about it? :P
I'm hiding from you obviously :)
Does tom have multiple accounts? Doot 'em.
Yertle wrote: So if I go into the Lobby chat room, should I stay in the Lobby chat room for at least 10 minutes even if I minimize the chat window?
Seems like I should, but I usually keep ending up out of the Lobby after minimization (a time or two I've minimized and been able to be back directly in the Lobby, but not for a whole 10 minutes I don't think).
I'm not a fan of having to always click into the Lobby, and I assume it never shows me in the Lobby even though I should be just the window minimizes.
Ha! The drawing tool is the best thing ever to happen to this site. =]
so to sum up the new chat (from what i can tell):
- shouldn't need to constantly click onto lobby when clicking on 'chatrooms'; as you should already be automatically placed into it. you should then be able to see what other rooms are open
- lobby should show who's in it, instead of just a number (and the number should reflect yourself being in it)
- need to have the ability to pop out individual rooms (lobby, other rooms - both public/private, and the 1on1s)
- need some ability to autohide the chatbar so it doesn't block anything (especially games). this may be influenced if ability to pop out windows happens in such a way that clicking on the game board brings that to the forefront)
- tho The Chat bar gets placed underneath the Board Designer Flash player.
- does the online indicator go to 'away' if there has been x amount of inactivity so you can tell if someone is actually online and actively at wargear?
- how do you close down a created chatroom?
- mouseovers for icons on left side of bar don't show up if the chatrooms (or any other piece is open)
- a few other specific ones that had images attached that i didn't include here
there was something else i noticed but can't remember what it was now that i'm typing them up...maybe it's time for bed!
Other than that, perfect right?
I'm afraid some of that stuff may be fixable, a lot of it we'll have to live with as it's a 3rd party product which although I have the source code it's a pretty complex thing to update. There is a 2.0 version in the works (this is v1.6) which I have a beta copy of so I'll evaluate that to see if it fixes many of these issues.
re: chatrooms - they are killed off automatically if noone posts in there for > 10 minutes at present, hence they are self regulating.
The only thing that actually bothered me was this:
"Please join a chatroom from the left navigation..."
When the navigation is on the right. =]

even with those...amazingly (or maybe not so amazingly!) close!
anyone else having troubles after changing themes? i actually have to do a right-click->refresh *inside* the little window after i change themes for it to show up correctly.
for example: changing from default (which is weird as the 'default' for me was 'dark' and changing to 'default' made it 'white'!) to dark - all i could see without highlighting the text was the 'create game' hyperlink and i couldn't see the lobby at all. and the change theme tab was showing the same thing as it did before i changed the theme (although you had to highlight the text to see it too). hit F5 on the page and nothing changes, open a new tab and nothing changes. in comes right-click->refresh and things worked fine!

That bugs me too, but seeing as the right side doesn't actually have the chatroom list either, I find it less annoying currently :P.
I think it is gonna be impossible to ever have a good group in the chat room as I cannot figure out how to just stay in the room. I'd hang out, but if I take a turn or accidentally do work or something, I'm booted out.
