Sorry must have been some very odd error on this side. It started working shortly after I posted my second message. Might have been something to do with FF 3.6.4? Seems they rushed out another update to 3.6.6 in like 2 days, but I have no idea why nor do I care enough to find out. =]

I vote for some value of x above 10 and below whatever value Yertle finds objectionable. It just seems nice to enter the chat room and see *something* just so you have an idea how the conversation is currently trending.

For awhile some of those x lines might end up being hours old, but as the chat picks up that will be less likely.

keeps x messages? interesting. seemed we must have been keeping a pretty good dialog going as when i got booted or if i left and rejoined some time later the first post seemed about an hour old, so i thought it was based on time. seems like 25-50 would work for now. tho we may need to revisit in the future if there really starts to be some traffic.

BTW, any idea why its still kicking people out/disconnecting them?

I'm working on integrating a more complete web based chat client so you can have private chats etc without installing a fat local client... should be there in a couple of days.

well i was pissin everyone off by being disconnected from the server so much - i felt i should back out for a while...

So, the old chat is gone and we have this other thing now... but it tells me I have to log in to use it, yet I can't figure out where to do so!

I am amused. I used the "Translate this Page" feature to put the site in Simplified Chinese, then translated back to English. I was very amused at how "asm" got translated to "Compilation". Go figure.

Hey,  I see my chat room on the bottom of that page!  I tried to start a chat room, but I couldn't see it. I just assumed that nothing happened.

BTW, M57 Translates just fine.

So if I go into the Lobby chat room, should I stay in the Lobby chat room for at least 10 minutes even if I minimize the chat window?
Seems like I should, but I usually keep ending up out of the Lobby after minimization (a time or two I've minimized and been able to be back directly in the Lobby, but not for a whole 10 minutes I don't think).

Awesome job with the chat! Very nice and looks great IMO!

I'm still not sure if the retain messages is necessary, unless perhaps there is a last 10 messages and within the last 5 minutes or something, but not a big deal.

The floating chat bar at the bottom doesn't block any content does it? Appears to only be the Copyright WarGear info (*edit* Browsing some more it looks like its covered on some pages and not necessarily everywhere), but may be something to watch out for, or the ability to minimize that somehow.
