Another no-dice board.
Who's ready to argue about strategy?
I vote for an enhancement to fix the attacking border display, so far it has usually worked to where the balloons are on top, but I've had it where they weren't and had to reload in order to attack.
asm is a CYLON!!!
And the second enhancement would be that when attacking with 1 and getting the balloon, then the free transfer box doesn't come up since the territory already has the max (this occurs in Duck Hunt too). Using Attack with Transfer All works correctly, but will take some adjustment to get used to using that every time on the board.
asm is a CYLON!!!
Agree strongly on both counts.
I'll need to lose a few games before I have opinions. That said, wouldn't such a discussion fit under "Strategy and Tactics"? It fits under "General Discussion" too, but I thought, well, you know what I'm saying.
Agree strongly with Yertle's two suggestion about the player.
Kinda agree with Hugh on location of this discussion, but strongly agree with Hugh that I still have a few to lose before I can discuss the board.
Could we also add to the list a logic check that skips the placement phase if a player has no units to place and goes straight to the attack phase? This would be nice on a couple of boards as well.
Along this lines it would also be nice to automatically end the Attack/Fortify phases of a turn if there are no possible attacks/fortifies on the board. This would be good in other boards, but could also be useful here.
Together these would skip your turn entirely if you had nothing to do and everyone else is just waiting for you to click "End Turn."
Agree with Alpha re: logic checks.
Totally agree with Hugh on the location of discussion, especially in light of player enhancement suggestions. Haven't played the board. I was just browsing the forums.
Agree with all agreeing thus far.

I agree.
..I think
I started 7 games of Darts, and I went first in ALL of them.
I know this was mentioned before, but are we sure the seat assignment is random (enough)?

It's as random as the dice rolls when you hit the 3 button instead of A or T.
it doesn't matter what button i hit today i lost in every (18+) games i took this morning/today.had a 14v2 and lost to fail to break up a continent bonus.
Congrats to Seige07 for breaking the map. There is a winning sequence for player 1. What's cool about the solution (NOT cool he broke it! ), as rounds wear on, player 2 slowly gains the advantage, snuffing out all "checking" chains of 3 and usually able to work around the balloons in place to get the win. So for a while I was convinced player 2 had the edge.
What about if player 1 forms rows/columns, player 2 forms diagonals? Appears that the player 2 defends diagonally to block checking chains, so diagonals for player 2 would align the attacking and defensive strategies for both players (player 1 would block diagonals, looking for rows/columns to take back control).
Fun - nicely done.
I wonder if that is why the players of Connect 6 settled on 6 in a row for game and not 5.
Connect6 allows diagonals too. I though the restriction of directions might compensate for one less in a scoring chain. Thought wrong.
Congrats Siege07. I was just going through my game against Mongrel and I thought to myself that even though I had some choice, his play was perfect and I could not have prevented the win.
I'm just glad I figured it out so I can sleep now. I had started the game against Mongrel and made my second move then tried to go to bed. I couldn't fall asleep for a couple hours as all the permutations kept running through my head. We then tried a rematch and found there are two different "second" moves that will win the game if played perfectly.
