great 1v1 board where starting doesnt give you any advantage (well, maybe the stats shoulb be checked), few differents strategies available dependiing on opponent gameplay.
This board is fun. Although I wouldn't exactly call the strategy "deep," there are a few ways that you can go with it, and that keeps both players on their toes.
I go back and forth on this board - I enjoy playing it and there definitely strategy involved... a nice balance between "should I be aggressive" and "if you are too aggressive you are screwed".
Dice play a huge factor - more so than the usual two player game - I've only seen one game in which the winner was negative on the "luck stats".
It's like "Steal the Bacon", only it actually works! Meaning, it's a short, sweet two-player board with obvious attack lines that actually requires a bit of nuance, luck, and strategy beyond "sit around and wait for unit counts to be high enough for offense to be a statistical fait accompli". Good stuff!
So much more strategy to this board than meets the eye. I've played and thought i was ready to go over the top, but come back to my next turn completely devastated. A great quick 2 person game.
Personally I love this board, there are so many little tricks you can pull on your opponent, whether your go in on them head on, or lure them in slowly to their death. Its a very fun fast moving board that really doesn't count on dice rolls but what strategy each opponent takes.
I've only played it a couple times, but this looks like it's going to be a classic. This is an expansion on the "Steal the Bacon" design - nothing but choke-points, but with sliding scale of dice mods to match the very appropriate map them. Time will tell if the mods are set right, but my guess is that they are close to perfect.
I like it
