I occasionally have some friends come visit from out of town and we will pass around a laptop while logging in and out to take our turns. I would think it would be obvious that the games are legit due to the gameplay, but it would be irritating if the games were paused or put on hold. You play public games like that? Just curious because I assume private games wouldn't be flagged at all.
I would think Flagged for Review means it's easier for tom (and/or whoever) to look through a player's gamelog to see if they are in that list. I wouldn't think that it would pause or stop a game in progress.
No, it's only Private Games. If Private games aren't monitored, then I have no worries.
Pechin, they both got banned, so I don't think you will see him unless they sign up again under a different name. I would want to play with them, would be fun to point all the other players to this thread.
Any way to flag that IP address at this point, so the cheat doesn't just join again (which is fine to re-join as long as it stays clean) and create a 2nd account that is more subtle?
Gimli brings up a good point. I find it hard to believe there are cheaters out there that are not as stupid ..I mean blatant as ashm. I can envision a very shrewd cheater mixing up and changing "dumbguy" accounts and only subtly and sparingly using them in fogged four and five player games to give them a not-so-insignificant advantage. They might even have the dumbguy attack the cheater every once in a while, to prepare for their defense if they are called to mat on it.
It's probably going to take a combination of ISP detection, same-time online move habit analysis and other kinds of sleuthing skills to find and bring these types down.
Of course, we need to be realistic about this. There will always be cheaters that get away with it, but that doesn't mean the site shouldn't be doing whatever it can to discourage it.
We should at least reverse rank, and examine the accounts of people that are 0 for 94 (clinton), play virtually every game together (clinton and Lexi), and one clearly takes it easy on the other (clinton on Lexi). I commission GenKiwi to start trolling accounts and stacking bodies.
We're gettin all witch hunt-Alien and Sedition acts-that Japanese thing that happened during WWII-Red Scare-Patriot Act up in this female dog!
If you don't agree with me you are automatically a suspect, expect to have your account(s) monitored, by GenKiwi.
I have a bot I used 4 times to test matches (Bot Crivens), don't get too excited.
If someone is freeloading and blatant hang them high, they waste resources. If someone is subtly cheating and *paying* and isn't disrupting the top X (50, 25, whatever) then who cares?
I agree, It's kind hard to imagine a player that's good enough to be close to top echelon players in the rankings, who would risk an account just to bump their score up 25 people in the standings. At that level, suspicious play is hard to mask. Not unlike in online bridge where teams that start to win consistently by making non-percentage plays start to stick out.
Iroll and M57 flagged.
pre-doot.
Didn't think about the money aspect. Sure, if they pay, they can play, until they piss off a player who cries wolf in the forums...
Yeah, I think the current system is working fine. We find 'em, we draw 'em, we quarter 'em, we condemn them to a life of nothing but games of Five against Mongrel, Spy v. Spy against Nygma, and Gauntlet against BlackDog.

Always suspect the flaggie.. Double-Flag Mongrel
Games of Five against Seige- Now there's punishment. Man has burst on the scene as prime fodder for the puzzle boards- i.e, he's good at them.
M57 flogged.
Flagged and flogged! Don't you think that's going a little overboard?
I suddenly have a little craving for Long John Silvers.

Nah, I just win puzzle games because I'm cheating, playing both people. Yes, that would make me all eight accounts in the Five is Fixed tourney. =) Self Flagged?
I can vouch for this. Seige controls my moves in the Fixed tourney. Of course, that gives the lie to Mongrel's #51, because he's getting his ass kicked in the other games not against him.

when I checked out this link, it says ASHM is on vacation... how does that happen if the account is deleted?
He went on vacation shortly before the account was disabled.
..permanent vacation, that is.

Name that artist!
It's an easy one...
As a hint, I think this isn't even the first time Yertle has had a discussion about this band. (Previous may have been in the old world)>
