I'm struggling to make some of the smaller territories clear in the dual layer, but I'm working on it.

You going to put circles in the center of the territories that fill too?
That's what I was thinking of doing for a world map I've been dabling with, Circles + Borders as Fill and other region how to distinguish the continent (of course that's quite similar to 1776 and Europe 1560).
Groooovy

That might be a good idea. I think I want to see how it looks in play without them. I know from the earlier versions that the circles exacerbate the small countries problem.
I'm thinking I might have to just make some of the smaller countries bigger or merge a few. Anyone got any other opinions or suggestions? Now is the time.
Graphically, I'm not sure if I like it 100%, but I want to hear some other critical thoughts before I poison the well.

Hmmmm, you may end up with an interesting predicament, all your unit text is going to have to be Black since the White number will blend in with the some of the continent colors (ie Brazil). But then that means the text in the player info box and messages will could potentially look bad (ie Black on Black). I imagine that could be worked out with choosing your player colors carefully, but may be one thing to watch.
I like the Fill map and how it all works with the overlaying of the non-transparent sections. Some of the borders may be tough to see who owns them, but once again that could come more into play with player color choices.
Mainly...player colors will play a role in how well everything gets displayed IMO. That's looks tough, since I imagine you won't want them to blend in with any of the continent colors, but to still be distinguishable from one another. Your maps have a good player color palette, but this one looks hard :P
I have no idea what Yertle is talking about with regards to colors, but why not just use smaller circles? Or very small icons that looks like something um, country related. F if I know. It's too early and my coffee levels are too low.
Sometimes it's just fun to make things more complicated :P
ZzzzzzzzzzzZzzzzzzZzZZZZZzzz.
Oh sorry recovering from narcolepsy brought on by a rake-induced whack to the head.
This is in no way a message complaining about the lack of a world map, it was just a random thread to post in. Honest.
*cough* where's my map *cough*
Well, because Master Bratac was so busy proclaiming about how much he missed Steven, I figured I'd give you all a little piece of him and make a promise about product delivery, fail to meet it by weeks or more, and not say anything about it. Feel better now?
Finally I feel at home here!!
Here's my current work in progress: http://www.wargear.net/boards/view/811/Board
Still has quite a way to go with everything (and looks like it will be bigger than Cram's but smaller than KrocK's). It's not necessarily a basic World Map, as it's based off of a map from China in the 1400s, and territories are semi-based off of 1400s.
Kinda looks like boobs with a world map tatoo. You should go for that theme!
Lol, you already discovered the theme!
I've already thought about removing outline and just making a flat map, will be easier to show side borders.

If you really must know, I haven't been working on my maps because I've spent all my time playing http://keepnix.com/sockslider/.
It has no Facebook Fans. That's really sad. My cat has 25 fans.
