Just curious, what about the Flash interface is so bad that we need to move away from it? Is it overhead? Maintenance? Apologies if the question sounds stupid.

It's definitely not iPad friendly. That in and of itself is probably not enough of a reason for some people, but for others..
I seem to remember reading a thread or two about the reason being forward looking ..to flash becoming obsolete where certain functionalities are concerned. Some of the more technically oriented can probably comment on that.
M57's answer is likely the primary reasoning. Flash is usable on Windows, but in the long term, it's not going to be supported in IOS (because of really one complicated reason, but it's not worth explaining). Also, flash is likely to go the way of the dodo in the next few years. HTML.5 is considerably lower overhead, and there's a lot of people that are busy making better and better development tools which make maintenance/adding features (for Tom) a lot easier.
Lastly, any developer worth their salt would tell you maintaining two interfaces is considerably more work than twice the work of maintaining one. (Ex: making sure that you're providing features that you can bring to both interfaces, and that they function the same way, etc.) But then again, I don't want to speak for the man himself...
Thx fellas.

I thought it was the flash player that didnt support the custom neutral colors? In the native player, Go-geared looks like it has a dark custom neutral color with a hatched texture.
Okay, So I made the switch a week ago or so, and started using native player as default and I have 2 things:
1. I Miss the "You have a set of cards" notification. (it is turned on in my settings)
2. It seems that when I do trade cards in, I have to refresh the board to make it reflect the increased number of armies I have placed. (the most recent time, I had placed armies, not applied that, traded cards, and then had to refresh for it to show the correct number to place)
#2 has been discussed before in the forums. It seems to happen on some boards and not on others. I have not been able to figure out the deciding factor. It seems like older boards are more likely to work correctly, while newer boards are more likely to not work.

Does it happen consistently on one board, or is it variable even on those boards where it does happen?
Either way can anyone give me a gameid and turnid where it happened?
damnit, it just happened to me the other day a couple times. will post turn and gameid next time it happens.

It seems to me that it happens every game on some boards and never on other boards. I'll try to keep better track.
My experience matches Ozy's. Either it always works or never, depending on the board.

Only territories in the 6 lefthand columns light up.
That bug has been fixed (should fix it for other boards as well).
Here's one where I turned in cards & it did not register. The cards disappear from the popup, but I don't get the units to place until I refresh:

Turn 923.
I also just had a card turn in on the 'Olympics' board which worked fine. Again - old board works, new board doesn't.
Wild Ass Guesses for the reason:

Confirmed it is fixed for me on this map:

Still not working on this map:

Odd it works for me - can you do a CTRL refresh on the player and check again? Assume you are using the Native not Flash player?
If it still errors, which browser are you using?
Native interface using an i-pad, Safari. I'll check again at my next turn.
Here's another game where card turn in failed:

turn id = 1974

yeah, that's the main reason I don't use the native player.
Although just switching between tabs to do it isn't so bad.
On my phone, it's very bad.
Card turn in works ok on "Day at the races":
