It seems a little fitting in the world we live in today (see the board description)
Prion 4 was created by Alpha, who was one of the very early players/designers on this site (and came over from TOS). He was into using the game mechanics to create unique games that were very un-RISK like. We used to have a lot of fun playing his (and others) boards and trying to figure out the best strategies. Alpha is also a former coworker of mine IRL and introduced me to this site over ten years ago.
Prion 4 it is! A few open games:

His 5, and 7 (edit:) and 10 boards are an amazing use of the engine to create something that is absolutely NOT Risk based. They are great boards, and lead to really fun games.
Pass along a hello to him from us long term members, we appreciate his ingenuity.

Thanks Amidon, I love those little bits of info from the past. Shows how much of a community this place has been over many years

Huge +1 to that. I remember first coming over from TOS and finding the forums here and see the awesome community with discussions around strategy, design, and both fun and serious topics. Such a breath of fresh air/realizing from reading stuff that there had been forum on TOS that I never got to see and what a mess it truly was beyond stalled and broken games.

hehehe... I guess I just claimed it! :)
Love the call out :)
And this is why I wanted to keep this as one thread as it is also a testament to a ongoing community within the greater wargear community
BorisTheFrugal is on deck to pick the December board
Prion in Nov seems to be taking a while to get going, but by all means do start Dec and hopefully the Prion games will fill soon! Maybe goes to show us that it is a board that needs reviving ;)
I think I agree with IR. Jumping to the next board before we've even really gotten started with Prion seems like it's going to force those games to never start.
I have a board picked, so I'm happy to proceed, but I think giving Prion another month to actually get some games going seems like the better idea.
That said (having never played Prion before, I don't know enough about the mechanics of the board, but.....) the open games are all 8-12 player games, which always take longer to fill. Anyone disagree with starting a few smaller games (4-6 players) because they will fill faster and get playing happening? If I wasn't a BRG member, I wouldn't want to jump in on a board I've never played before with 12 players, because I know I'm just gonna get smoked.
Just a thought...

To BorisTheFrugal's point - going back to the first post of this thread (emphasis mine)
Abishai wrote:HI everyone,
Have you ever loved a board that had so little exposure that you ended up just having to see it die out? Or have you ever dug up an old board that looked like a blast, but you knew that starting a **5 player** game would just take way too long? Or are you just someone who wishes to see a greater diversity of boards on this site? Well the Board Revival Group might be the perfect place for you!
LOL...
So unless people disagree, I think we should stay with Prion for another month and I'll start January with my pick.
i don't have a preference
Fine by me
LOL...
For January 2022 - I choose Helix. I love the board so much, but it has only had 18 games played since 2013, which is a shame.
