Always happy to answer questions on factories. Any questions out there? This seems like a good place for a general discussion. (sorry for officially hijacking)
I have a question -- I'm not sure that it's factory related..
How does Ten - Propagate know when the winner has 100 territories? There are a lot of possible combinations?
In ten it is just a territory count, but you can use factories to achieve the same thing.
I have a factories question.
What happens in a game with abandon on, revert to neutral immediately, if I set an auto capture factory of 0 to a territory, in combination with a universal factory of +1 to the same territory. Will the player get the 1 unit, since the autocapture factory made it theirs, or will it revert to neutral before the unit would be placed?

It should depend on the names of the factories, right?
edit: ..make that continents
The continent ids... I suppose... but does it stay player owned until the end of the factory sequence?
Good question -- two ways tp find out.
In theory the order in which the factories apply is defined by the continent name (Aa-Zz). In practice there hasn't been a great deal of testing of this
Tom, I think Ed's question has to do with exactly when the territory reverts to neutral. My example below is a little different, but the theme is there.
With abandon ON, if continent a brings factory A down to 0 units, and continent b puts a universal unit on factory A, will continent b (which now has a unit on it) belong to the player who originally held it or will it be neutral (because of the effects of continent a)?
In other words, are all of the unit counts changed for all the factories and then the ownership changes? OR can ownership change in between factory allocations?
Auto-assigns (i.e ownership changes) happen in a loop before units are added / removed from the territory.
So, on BLUE's turn, if BLUE have a +0 autocapture factory to a territory with 1 RED unit in it, and abandoned territories revert to neutral immediately, and BLUE also has a +1 universal factory to that same territory... then...
The autocapture will change it to blue with 0 units, then, the territory will revert to neutral, then the 1 unit is discarded because the territory is neutral?
In that case the 1 RED unit would be converted to 1 BLUE unit by the autocapture, then the universal factory would place an additional unit. This would only work if the continent name for the autocapture factory comes before the other factory in the alphabet.
Universal factory production on Neutrals are not discarded at present.
Is there any option to have that discarded? Or is it not in. Either way is fine.
So a +0 autocapture, would still give 1 unit to the new owner? Even with abandonment?
What about a -1 autocapture?
There is no option to discard it yet - it could be an additional Rule.
-1 Autocapture should result in the territory being abandoned.
As many of you may have noticed, I've been kind of MIA and so I haven't kept up with stuff. I've been hunting around the forums for about the past 45 seconds or so looking for a thread about all the new map making stuff (factories, factory related things) but I can't find the one that really tells me what they are, what they do and how best I can use them in one of my lame maps.
Would someone kindly post a link to the thread here for me. I am lazy and stupid and incapable of thinking for myself. Oh, I am also lazy! Thank you and I'll hang up and listen to my answer.
Good to see you Risky. If you can understand Ed N speak, try this:

Hmm.. the like doesn't seem to work.
Link is broken because when you edit a post the 'forum' disappears from the link. If you don't edit it works. Weird bug. Basically if your post includes a forum link, copy, delete the post & resubmit instead of trying to edit.

Also Risky - Glad to have you back! There is still time to get something done for the current map making competition if you hurry.
