An interesting map that never fails to make me want to toss over the table and spill all the pieces on the floor. The bonus structure is unique and allows you to gain a bonus and hide behind neutrals or waste your armies on the neutrals in hopes of securing the larger bonus. See, that's some thinking right there.
I feel as if I've reviewed this map a thousand times because I speak so highly of it (also because I think I have because they keep going away for some reason).
Some people just don't get it, I guess. This map is visually stunning and the use of the circles instead of fill is great. Whether intended or not I always look at it as a big Frak U to circle maps and that makes me happy.
This is the greatest map EVER! The limited attacks are perfect, the fog is perfect, the defense modifiers are perfect.
I love this map! From the demented mind of Cumberdale comes something no sane person would come up with....a bomb factory? Really? It's all about playing the percentages the best to utilize your bonuses where they will most help you. Get your bonuses when the getting is good and charge ahead.
3 player maps are the hardest maps to make and even harder to make well. I am a big fan of this map. The elegance of it is in it's simplicity. The addition of the fortify to any connecting with unlimited fortifies allows you to regroup after a bonus buster and also allows you to really utilize the choke points to their fullest. Try to save your biggest bonus or regroup so a smaller choke point but have a larger defense? That is up to you and this map lets you make the choice. The card scale is just enough to make it interesting without ever deciding the game in and of itself (big props). Unlike the map would appear, it's not really a sprint but you can play it that way (please join a game with me if you do choose to play that way).
This is one of the maps that I make sure I have at least one game being played. It's really one of my favorites. Unlike most maps where collecting territories is the fun part, on this map I actually enjoy breaking other people's bonuses more than securing my own. There are just so many chances to cause your opponents pain that it's hard not to just want to be a jerk!
I'm really a big fan of this map. The idea of using DNA for a map is great and it is pulled off really well here. It is clean and clear and interesting. The 1 fortify really makes thinking ahead the key to the map and the modifiers are perfect.
This is a very well made map and uses the ladders and chutes really well to force the player to not just puddle in one place because I player on the other side of the map may still be able to get to you. It was also done before Layers were available in the design which makes the look that much more impressive.
This is still one of my favorite maps to play. It would be tempting to do stuff like give the castles defense modifiers but the game just plays really well without them. I love how the continents are used more as an End Game grab rather than a way to keep you in the game.
The map that started the "Infection" of Hordes! bonuses on Wargear (see what I did there?). It's great and the original still uses the concept the best. Sure, the dice hate me all the time on this map, but that's not the map's fault.
I don't play this map much anymore but it is still one of my favorites of all time. The graphics are what they are, it's a Connect 4 game, adding in busty blondes on either side could be done to enhance the look, but why bother.
As a native Chicagoan, I particularly like this them. I really like the use of the bridges with the Hordes! bonus style, they make things interesting. The Speakeasys as a jump around tool are well placed. Think you've got your Hordes! all packaged up and then some dip wad on the other side of the map that you weren't paying attention to ruins your whole day.
Good map. This use of the non bonus continents is very nice. The main thing I like about this map is how the whole package goes together. The player's colors are the perfect choices. Most people probably won't take that as large of a compliment as I mean it. Hell, I hate picking the colors and spend too much time on it so this is something I appreciate.
I'm just going to assume that you read one of the other 3 times I've reviewed this map just to have it deleted. This is an AWESOME map and may be close to flawless gameplay. Sure, Europe is boring but even that can be forgiven in this case.
Yup, I love this map. It's always a matter of thinking "are these 6 armies enough?". It's a great use of fog and really makes you wonder what is around the next corner.
This is a very nice map. Every thing is clear and the addition of the cities for extra bonuses are cool. Also, with the per territory bonus, people get armies faster than you think. It's a slow build map and one of the few of that style that I like playing.
The map is well laid out, looks good and has a real good concept behind it. The bonuses are attainable and defendable and while that may sound easy, it's really not.
