Rematching from a specific point would be great for analysis. When working out all the scenarios in Five, it's a pain to start over, hope you get the same seat assignments, then take the same 6 or 7 moves to get back where you were.
You thinking of this more as a Dev tool than for Ranked games?

Shouldn't be available for Ranked games IMO, unless the Rematched game is Unranked.
Although can't really start a Dev game on a Live board can you (unless the Board Designer copies it to create a new Board), so would have to be for Private games I would think.
asm is a CYLON!!!
ToS had this option with some sort of rematch link to each line of the history. It's great from several perspectives: Dev for sure, theoretical disputes, curiosity, ego massaging, etc.
ToS also made any rematch of any form unranked, which is very reasonable. Not sure unranked is necessary for rematches starting a game over, because it wouldn't skew the ranking data in a noticeable way, but it is "safer" that way.

Hugh's response contains my response.
Sorry to dredge this one back up, but I'd be interested in the rematch function.
(I searched the enhancement request spreadsheet, but didn't see it listed)
I liked to use it when I made a decision that ended up costing me the game, and I wanted to try replaying the end of the game with a different strategy so I could learn from the experience.
And yes, I agree that all rematches are should be unranked.
Yes, rematches should definitely be unranked, and i'd like to request an enhancement.

This is a feature that would be really nice for strategy development in five, seven, octagons, and such.
Added as a feature request - strange I thought this one was already on there.
Nice!
