Remote Control is now live, and there is a 10 person round robin tournament open for learning and sharing. Join if you're interested.
Make a trophy for it you slacker!
I did, posted right after you commented.
Cool, I joined the tournament. I thought it's supposed to be 2 units for every five territories controlled... why do I have only a +1 bonus?

Bug? Looks like you should be at +2 to me.
asm is a CYLON!!!

I have one guy flying the last plane. (Yay! - I've won). No, wait. What happens when I attack 1v1 and can't take the remote? Hmmm. Then I could fortify and attack again. But if I lose a second time, I will have vacated my capital and lose the game. Of course I could vacate my capital and attack 2v1, but if I lose I lose big time.
If I attack 1v1 and lose and refuse to fortify.. Stalemate - no planes left on the board.
What to do?
You can't vacate your capital, I don't think it will let you. Hmm... I suppose I could put a minimum of 1 unit for a bonus.
Might have to -- I'm going for 1v1 right now..
Edit: Went for it - got lucky and won. But it occurs to me, even with an automatic +1 bonus. I could attack - lose - and have no place to put my bonus on the next round.
BTW, what's the purpose of the 4 unit max on the remotes? Does it make a difference?
Wouldn't you still have your capital?

Yes, and so would my opponent - but there would be no planes to fly..

You can attack from your remote to the upper corner on your side.
True, but if you can't have less that 1 unit on your remote and you have a bonus of 0, you can't attack the upper corner.
I thought we were talking about if you had an automatic +1 bonus. Then you could wait until you had 2 units on your remote and start retaking planes.
Then, yes. You are right -- min bonus of 1 looks like it fixes the problem.
Okay, the min bonus is set to 0, but you get 2 per 5. Now, from my last game, I can tell that this means you get 0 with 2 or fewer countries, and 1 if you have four countries. However, the stat thing told me 0 (hence my confidence after leaving him at 4 countries - in the history it shows him getting a bonus unit while I got none. I got none because I only had 2 countries, so that wasn't an issue). So, I'm thinking this whole 2/5 is as I think it is, but not as the stat displayer is telling me. Anyone else see this?
Yeah, I think the rounding isn't done in the correct place. I think the implemented formula is:
bonus = floor(2*territories/5)
This means that if you have 4 territories, you get 1 unit and if you have 8 territories, you get 3 units. The formula really should be:
bonus = 2*floor(territories/5)
This will give you the increment of 2 extra units for every 5 territories you control.
Yup - now I have 5 countries and the stat bar gets real funny with me - my country bonus is 1 at 5/5 but Norseman's is 0 at 2/5 and the rules say we get 2 bonus units per 5 countries and in a previous game M57 got 1 bonus unit at 4 countries (the link is the one M57 posted).
And........BUG CONFIRMED! I receive 2 units, stats bar tells me I receive 1. Now I'm not sure whether Norseman is right here on intended floor. It doesn't sound crazy that 2/5 is like the supermarket 2/5, meaning 1/2.5. Is there a place where this is discussed (I'm starting to get self-conscious about flooding this particular thread!)
There's a bug with the display within the flash player. You need to look at the game page. The calculation is displayed incorrectly, but the resulting value displayed here matches what my formula gives:

I do remember that someone requested this at some point (but I can't find the thread). The intent (as I recall) was to allow territories to contribute more significantly to the total unit bonus while still preserving the quantized effect where losing one territory can have a big impact. So I believe the new formula I proposed reflects the original intent.
