hi all
The new Native (Javascript based) player has now been set as the default player whenever iOS is detected so you can play WarGear on your iPad / iPod / iPhone. Previously this was not possible as Apple does not permit Adobe Flash to be installed on iOS devices.
If you would like to test the new player on other devices this is now open to everyone. You can launch the Native player from either the game view page or from the game lists (the little red icon by the game name).
If you find that you prefer the new player you can set it as the default via this page: http://www.wargear.net/settings/player
At this stage I am not planning to completely replace the Flash player with the Native version because I have concerns about performance - Flash runs a lot faster than Javascript.
As usual any feedback please let me know.
Tom
Still working on getting the player to load on Droid platforms?

This is not at all true for me. Maybe because I routinely have 30+ tabs open, but the flash player is super slow, and the new javascript player runs much faster for me.

OK thanks good to know. I find it's nice and quick on smaller boards but areas where it's slow are for example where fortify to all connected territories is enabled and it has to draw 100+ borders.
This map still is broken on the new player:

Each territory is colored according to the ownership of the territory above it, and the upper left territory is greyed out. (see screenshot in previous beta thread).
Also redirecting to board explorer with the new beta player is not as good as the 'board' tab was, because I cannot see the state of the board as I 'explore'.
Is the politically correct term "Native Player"?
P.S. Sorry, I thought the concept for the above joke was funny but really couldn't get the telling worked out.
never mind. insert something funny here, ( )! :)
that did not turn out the way it was supposed too. :(
i will quit drinking tommorrow i swear! :)

The direction I'm thinking of going in is incorporating the history view and board explorer into the Native Player. It's more user friendly that way.

+1 ..though my vote doesn't count as much as yours.

I think it prefers to be called, "Little Player(s)"

There's a "He is called 'One Who Plays on Apple'" joke in there somewhere too.
On this board, I've noticed twice now that for some reason I can't see the unit counts for the dwarf player (khaki color), even though I can see unit counts for every other player. The problem goes away if I use the flash player. http://www.wargear.net/games/player/166740?player=native
With the new player, attempting to turn in cards outside of the right phase, gives you a prompt with 'cancel' & 'retry' buttons. Is there any point in having a 'retry' button. Should it just be an 'ok' button.
On the map '10', as soon as someone attacks, the zeros all turn into 'undefined'. This is in Firefox 12.0.

Just got Firefox 13.0.1 and I see the same problem.
Native Player Team Games:
- The "Team" checkbox should default to checked.
- When unchecked, the orders Review is currently still showing as an Attack/Fortify order vs. an Attack order.
When Reviewing orders in the Native player, it does not save changes. I moved my turn orders up/down and then clicked "X" to close the window. It did not save the order changes.
I'd suggest either automatically saving changes or putting in an "OK" box that does the same and closes the window.
