I'm hesitant to give out a perfect 10, but i just love this board. It is by far the best U.S. board i've ever seen. Great for team play or large free-for-all games. Looks fantastic, great use of cities, ships, rivers and mountains. Awesome.
This may be my favorite map on the website. Lots of nooks and crannies and places to build up. Many different possible strategies to win. There is a bit of an East Coast Bias ;-), but that's coming from a West Coast boy. It makes historical sense, though, to have a lot going on where, you know, the Civil War was actually fought. But still -- show us pioneers some love! OK, I'm done. Great board!
Very large, perfect for mass players and teams. Huge bonuses which can be deceiving because of the many territories to cross and the occupancy of them. It's size make the logistics and bonus allocation tedious... but who doesn't want to set a hundred troops down and run with it?
Excellent board. Every time I think I've figured the strategy, I find someone else running something better (well, not every time). I really enjoy this board.
Very Versatile board with many different strategies for any range of player numbers. Well balanced board in that the West Coast has more territories, less cities, but good choke points that can make the difference. Most people do prefer to go the East Coast strategy which can work at different times. Only improvement that may be interesting is to add dice modifiers that could play to specific events like Sherman's March or Gettysburg. Could add Gettysburg on the map as well if we want to stick to a Civil War theme. Although I consider this more a US board, especially since a majority of the map wasn't in the Civil War.
Overly reliant on posssesion of the cities, and its treatment of the North is clunky. Frankly it also doesn't reflect the actual Civil War very well either, unenjoyable overall.
This board has more definition than the other CW boards. My only dislike is that some cities are within territorial borders. In reality, the taking of a city generally meant controlling a region because people would flee an invading army.
The rivers make a good game dynamic. It's not just wide open borders...like in real life there are passes and crossings that become points of contention.
This is probably my favorite board. There are many techniques to winning on this board. There are several territories to get reinforcements from. This game is one that lasts.
Huge board. Don't expect this one to be over in a hurry. I'm not sure if the game just doesn't like me or I don't like it but I think I might play again to find out.
