Does anyone know how big an area is needed to clearly display the unit counts (say limited to 2 digits) on a territory? I have a big hex map that I'm working on with terrain features, and I'm trying to figure out how to integrate a clear space to display the unit counts without obscuring either the number of units or the terrain icons. To do that, it would be really helpful to know how many pixels (A x B) I should set aside for the unit count display.
Could you take a screen shot of the number 88 or 00, crop it to size and put it in your standard image editor?
I'd do it for both players -- the fonts are different..
I had a post about this a few years back. I think Yertle had an estimate & IIRC it was around 32x32 px.
Found the old thread:
http://www.wargear.net/forum/showthread/1396/minimum_territory_size
From that discussion, Yertle recommended 21x20 squares as the minimum
Cool, thanks!

This is true...and throws things off :P A couple of my boards have had unintended side affects by the differences between the Flash version and Native version. I believe the Native version has bigger text and actually a pixel or two difference in placement. So I'm not entirely sure the recommended is still accurate :/
Ok, well, I'll test it out. I think I came up with a solution for unit placement in my hex tiles that should leave plenty of room and still look good.
