Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to become "Alien" Turtles...
What's left from my childhood that hasn't been ruined?
... I'm thinking it's GoBots and that's it...
How bout StarBlazers?
Legos?
I stand corrected - I forgot about those both (and with a house filled with my kids LEGOs now, I am ashamed of myself). Starblazers... there's one I nearly forgotten all about. Wonder if Nova is still single? :)
Go-Bots: they WERE the spoil for Transformers.
Legos: Spoiled. You can't buy a box of just simple blocks. Just a package of specialized parts that are only good for building one thing. As proof, I just bought a Lego Chewbacca.

not new, but lots on ebay is (or was, it's been a couple of years,) a good place to get a cross selection of bricks for general play.
My first set of Legos I ever got was the Ice World spacefarers that had all these big ships and radar antennae. They would travel around on skis with chain saws to harvest ice from an ice planet. My crowning achievement was to use one of the skies and some other basic legos to build a fighter jet that could either fly in the air, ski on the snow, or water ski.
Ah, memories...
Thundarr the Barbarian they've left that one alone so far... ;^)
and agree with SnakeEyes about LEGOs. trying to find 'normal' collection of pieces (blocks, logs, plates, wings, ramps, etc) is a PITA without going to buy someone elses collection. or going to LEGO store and buying individual pieces at bulk rate.
I freaking LOVED Thundarr the Barbarian! :) However, now I realize that it wasn't more than a blatant ripoff of StarWars - just melded into a post-apocalyptic D&D type world. Still... Awesome!
But then again, I also loved the Adventures of the Gummi Bears cartoon, so perhaps my judgement is a little bit off :)
Oh yeah, and to the point of the thread, it totally blows that Michael Bay is turning TMNT into Aliens! I mean, WTF?! How does that not just change the entire back story? It's like re-doing Spiderman, but making him an alien instead of being bitten by a spider. Laughable.
Aliens study ninjitsu...obviously.

They sell those by the pound at lego stores. There may even be one near you.

They actually do sell sets of just bricks, but they are just the bricks and don't have the roof pieces, tires, windows, etc.

Not sure why this movie bombed at the box office. My teenage self quite enjoyed it.
But there have been a few'80s movies I have rewatched recently and wasn't quite sure why I used to like them -
*sigh* it's not getting any better Megan Fox in TMNT Reboot...

Howard the Duck would be one of them, definitely.
Or Dolph's He-Man...
