So i never win a 4v1 battle... is that normal? I think the last 6 times i've tried it, i lost. You guys know the probability?
The odds of losing 4v1 6 times in a row are very low. You should expect a good chance of winning any time you have more than 3 times your opponents men in Spy vs Spy.
Mongrel discusses this:
@ Irolls: Didn't take long before my arbitrary definition was called out. "with confidence" is greater than a 64% chance of capture (with continuous attack). I have the exact numbers but am too lazy to go on campus computer to use the compiler.
For low units, rolling "with confidence" is
Pr(4 against 1) = 64%
Pr(7 against 2) = can't remember but > 64%
Pr(10 against 3) = can't remember but > Pr(7 against 2)
or, a little over 3 times as many attacking units as is defending.

BlackDog edited his post, so his link is broken (weird forum bug strikes again). Here is a good link:
You're link just goes to this thread.
alright, thanks
Weird. I had changed 'autolinking' to 'disabled' in the settings, I wonder if that had anything to do with it. I just turned it back on and I'll try to paste the link in here. I think as long as I don't edit this post the link should work:

Yep, that worked.
I'm trying so hard to become number one on this board, i beat paulville a bunch of times and got to number 3. I then proceeded to tell him the best strategy for the board and then started to lose to him. Should i be nice in the future or should i keep my mouth shut? Any thoughts?

Depends on if you crave the points or the competition.
I usually will give people tips or even tell them my general strategy if i've beaten them several times, but then i'll seek out new opponents to up my points. Sometimes if you give people a nudge in the right direction, then they can figure out their own strategy.
But i agree with ATH's point
i like the comp, just not a lot of people play the board, i do like to tip people off and see if a new strategy arise though.
Thanks all
Evan (Rasputin) or i guess i should say Rasputin the 3rd, 3rd place on too many boards that is!
