Is anyone else having trouble with Universal -N factories?
They don't seem to be firing properly on this board, but I don't know why. They grant factory bonus to the factory territories of the same player that owns the member continent, but not factory bonus to other players that own factory territories.
I've had issues with them as well.
Have you had this same problem?
I always get +N and -N confused. I had an issue where one or the other only impacted the player who owned the target factory. Tom said he's looking into it, but I'm not sure I had as clear a reason for when it was happening.
This is the last thing I sent him:
I have since made changes to this board, so it's gonna be tough, but...
http://www.wargear.net/games/player/542585?player=flash
All game I tried to get the universal factories to take -5 from the neutral 10's and 15's and such. You can see around move 419 that the continents function, but for some reason only against the territories that are player owned.
For more info... There are 3 bomb sizes, when paired with a bomb on the board, the continent should give -5 universal to any squares in the blast zone. Small bombs hit 5 territories making a plus sign (ground zero + 1 adjacent in each cardinal direction). Medium bombs hit another 4 (one more adjacent square in each cardinal direction) extending the plus sign. Large bombs make the diameter of the blast into 7 with the largest plus sign (ground zero plus 3 territories in each direction). So, when I pick a size and place a bomb, at the start of my turn, universal factories should put -5 to each target location. Though they only seem to trigger when the target is player owned, which is not 'universal'
He said he'd look into it. He also fixed the factory caps issue that didn't allow for 1 as an option.
I'm having issues with Universal-N and Universal with the new Skedaddle map. Not sure if that's related to trying to update a capital or not.
And yes, Kjeld, it's the same issue you are having - updating an enemy-controlled territory.
I always thought the issue you were having was with the universal+n Nygma.
btw, I found out what the issue for my factories was - a bit of user error.
Universal + N affects neutrals only?

Yep. See the handy reference chart here: http://www.wargear.net/wiki/doku.php?id=designer_tutorials:tutorials:factories:factories
Right, I thought the issue was with the bombs away (or similar named) map, when a bomb was set, to destroy adjacent neutrals?
Anarchy (Designer link) is created almost entirely of U-N factories, which keeps neutrals from piling up with armies.
So the question is, why is Anarchy working and other boards aren't?
I think the problem may be that it is actually "Universal-N" (or Universal+N) in the XML, not "Universal -N". That space may not seem a big deal when discussing the continents here or on the wiki, but it wreaks havoc with the game engine when it's encoded in the XML. I suggest we update the wiki to reflect this point if it turns out this is the correct diagnosis.

Yes, it is without space, as you can see on the list in the Designer. I have updated the wiki.
