I've been playing around with some modifications to Amidon37's Hex board, and I'm pretty sure I've figured out a way to create a siege style two player game, where the objective of one player is to create a supply-line to/from the sieged area, and the objective of the other player could be just about anything else, from total defeat to holding specific territories. The mechanics don't really drain much functionality from the game. Standard continents, movement, dice-mods, placement, fortification, more than one army per stack, etc., are pretty much all on the table, with just a few limitations. Hexes are not required. Any map style can work.
So I'm wondering what famous siege battles folks might be interested in seeing in a map? I've been considering.
Boston (1775)
Leningrad (WWII)
Vicksburg (US Civil War)
Also battles where any kind of supply-line would suggest victory conditions are on the table as well. For instance a battle like Waterloo could have Napoleon winning if he could break through and establish a line to any point North of Viex-Amis.
If there's a battle that, (like in Hex), would suggest victory for either side based on the same, or even separate supply lines, that could work too.
Troy
Does it have to be non-fiction? How about Helm's Deep or Minas Tirith or Erebor?
If you really want, I can try to push http://www.wargear.net/boards/designer/621 out, and you can mod it up.

That's a beautiful map, Cram. I can show you how to do it. You probably have a better idea of what the supply-line objectives are.. If I got my hands on that map - I might mess it up.
I have a similar style map that I could work with as well.
Didn't consider fictional battles. Sure, they could work. An Ender's Game final battle scenario could work..
Vienna 1683

Interesting. One player would have to establish a supply-line from the center. The maps I can find are tough to scale, but there are some nice maps.. I'll definitely keep it in mind.

How would this work? What would be the victorious supply-line route?
I have no idea. Maybe securing a steady stream of favor from the gods?

This one could be cool: http://www.executedtoday.com/images/Battle_of_Vienna_1683_map.jpg
Or this one: http://www.gothicstamps.com/inventory/images/40643.jpg

Those are exactly the two I was considering. #1 is beautiful but doesn't have the big picture; #2 is the wrong LxW ratio, but I'm thinking I could lop the bottom off..
If anyone is interested in helping, I reworked a map I was using for a different idea a while back to make a board that uses the Hex paradigm for victory.
New Dev game...

This is a newer scenario that features a delayed arrival of Prussian Reinforcements. I need to tweak the starting scenario so it's fair.
