A while back I noticed that if I listed a game as a favorite board I would get an e-mail notification whenever such a game was started. However, that never happened?
Is that how it is supposed to work?

It's actually only an instant notification - http://www.wargear.net/settings/notifications and only if you set either of the notification settings to 'Favorite Boads Only'.

I'm hijacking this dead thread to mention that I am getting a message notification in the My Games list when I was the one who posted the message. It doesn't happen right away but does seem to happen when I leave the site and then comeback. It didn't used to do this and I liked that. I don't like that I keep going into games just to read my message. Oh, unless it's funny...it's cool if it's funny.

The fix looks to be: RiskyBack is only allowed to post in-game messages that are funny. All is right in the world again.
In seriousness, this has been a problem for many/all players for a long time now. If you haven't been getting the icons, I think it's only because someone else has responded to your messages, and so when you go finally go look at the game again (with the icon) there's someone else's message for you to read too. If I were more courteous, I'd post links to a number of other threads about the same issue.......but I'm not.

happens to me if i post public messages, but doesn't happen all the time. i just posted a bunch of 'i'm sorrys' for being skipped due to work travel and no access. i got envelope on 3-4 of the games, none of the others. and it happened without leaving the site, just going into games and back to games list.
But I can change,
if I have to,
I guess...
