I need to fix a color on Fall of Rome that is just too close to neutral.
If I open the designer I can go and change the color and save, but of course, nothing happens because it's "live". I get that. I know I need to update a new version, but once I do this, how will it work? Is the new version instantly live? If so, why wouldn't it also prevent me from saving any changes?
So let's see. When I make a copy, I'm going to select "New Version", right? Will that open the designer and let me make the adjustment and then save? Or does it make a non-live version that I can save and then somehow convert to live? It's probably all super-intuitive and a cave-man could do it, but I don't want to mess it up somewhere in the middle of the process.
If you are just updating a Player Color then just change the current Live version and future games will be honored.
No need to create a New Version when updating Player Colors or Card Images/Names...at least I think :)
Colors can't be updated without a new version at present... but I can't see any reason why they shouldn't be, I'll update.
I thought they could, but I never found the thread/post in regards to it. The fewer need for Versioning the better IMO, and I don't see a reason why colors shouldn't be changeable either.
Thanks!
i wouldn't mind if we could do 'minor version' updates of live maps. certain things like colors, min/max players, default fog, maybe a few other small things. and then just change it to 3.1, 3.2 etc, rather than always stepping by a full 3.0, 4.0, and so on.
I'd say the problem with some things would affect current active games (ie Default Fog), which may not be ideal, unless there was a way in which they only took affect in new games (which may be manageable with the 3.1, 3.2, etc.). But Min/Max, Border Settings, etc. probably wouldn't be a big deal if they changed in current active games.
OK you can now update the following while a board is Live:
Description
Min/max players
Player Border
Player Background
Border Display (Arrows vs Circles)
Unfortunately the colors can't be updated without a new version because this breaks games that are in the Join phase - as an example consider a player who has chosen Yellow but when the game starts that color does not exist.
What is Player Border and Player Background? I can't find any reference to it on the help pages.
Player Border is the thin black line that squares off the Flash Player. Player Background is the back drop for transparent portions of a board image and the backdrop for the non-play tabs (ie Cards).
OH.. so player doesn't mean "Player"! Who would'a thunk?
just like when we call you a player, we're not really calling you a Playah. :D
