BORED NOW!
I WANT SIMULPLAY OR TEAM SETTINGS!
i can be such a prick sometimes
Team Settings +1 vote
and by team settings I mean clans/guilds/groups/thinktanks/carpools
Oh, that's not what I mean. I mean the ability for map makers to set teams within a scenario so that we can have a team game with set starting areas where we have Rebels vs Empire or Zombies vs Humans.
oh

this is awkward...

If we're gonna do the voting thing then I think I have to agree. Starting team scenarios I think would have the best bang for the buck in terms of new map possibilities. Stillnotsurewhattocallitbuteverygoesatonceplay would have a lot more bang but would be a lot lot more bucks.
So I'd like to see:
Ability to assign seat positions to any combination of teams.
Ability to restrict a map to team games only instead of just allowing team play.
Team stats, but..
not necessarily right away, there's no reason we couldn't have team play in place for awhile before we start recording stats.

I assume more stats than the current records? You mean Championship Points/Rankings?

Yup. Also the current stats would not be able to take into account like say, a 6 vs. 1 team humans vs. zombies game. At least I don't think it would, maybe it would.
I've decided that this summer if I get bored my first map will be a Plants vs Zombies map. If someone wants to beat me to it that's fine though, because we have to have one. It'd be a very interesting 1v1 map...
Well fortunately I don't think any of the next dev items will take as long as tournaments. The scores from the last round of voting were:
Tournaments: 93
Scenario Enhancements: 80
Simultaneous Play: 60
Home page update: 8
Scenario enhancements will include allowing multiple scenarios per game board + custom teamplay support (e.g. asymmetric teams).
Whilst tournaments aren't quite done yet (need to add support for knockout tournaments) I'd rather take a break from them for now.
I'd say that in terms of effort simultaneous play would be a lot more work than scenario enhancements.
tom, I hope you know that I was just being a smartass here and am certainly not pushing. Tournaments are great and I'm really enjoying the few of mine that have filled up. Round Robin on 2 player maps is really great!
Scenario Enhancements seems to be a logical next step because I would think that a lot of the coding is there, it just needs tweaking (I don't know that for sure). I can seen SimulPlay being a HUGE challenge especially with all the interesting suggestions you have been given.
Take a break from stuff and play a game of Count Risky or one of the 2022 maps and then get back to work Slacker!
I agree with Risky. I think Scenarios should come first also :P.
Also, most of the good simultaneous maps require scenarios.. so seems like a no brainer.

Are you taking a break from tournaments?
Well, a break from adding new features, not a break from fixing them :)
