Wasn't sure whether to put this in the Suggestions forum or not, but I thought maybe I missed something somewhere, so I would ask before suggesting.
Is there any way to resize/organize the legend? Having it expand primarily horizontal is giving me a lot of problems trying to port some designs over.
If we can't at this time, I would just like to put in a suggestion to have a couple options for the legend like long vertical, square, or short horizontal (rectangular shape, still wider than tall, but just not expanding as wide as it does now).
I second this.
OK I'll add it to the ToDo list... it could be a little tricky but I'll see what I can do. I'm a bit contrained by at the moment because I'm using one of the standard Flex components to display the player names but potentially I could drop this and write my own version.
On another note - I'd like to add the WarGear logo to all the live boards, would you guys have any objection to this? It would be positionable by the designer much like the player box.
I have no issue with that. It's your site, no reason not to remind everyone of that :)
It would be nice to have options on size as well as position.
I'm against adding the WarGear logo. On Warfish I don't add it (to new stuff) but rather design it into the Map and I think it looks much better that way, so even if it doesn't stand out like crazy I think it still does the job (puts the trademark there). So I would suggest being able to not place it, or have the option to not place it if it is located on your design (which can then be accepted/rejected by your review process).
Just my opinion.
Is there a way to choose the player colours that are available to be used on a map? i am working on a map and gray as a player colour is far to confusing.
Not yet, no. It's a 'ToDo' list feature. I can block specific colors if you want, unfortunately at present it's a manual admin only thing so send me a PM with the board name and I'll edit it.
ya i cant import most of my maps because of the legend size.
For anyone who wants to bring a map over, but can't due to legendary restraints, simply expand the vertical dimension of your canvas to fit the legend across the bottom -- it doesn't have to be very high. Leave the new blank part at the bottom transparent and set the legend in there.
If you then have a blank space that used to be set aside for tucking the legend into your image on Warfish, put the Wargear logo in it, type a little note for the gamers, put some rules in it, or just blend it back into the image.

Me too, although I don't feel strongly about it. I feel like you've already got a wargear logo on the webpage right? Is there a reason you really need it right on the map also? I just felt like it got in the way sometimes.
No big deal, I don't feel that strongly about it either to be honest so let's leave it for now.
I suggest adding an option to allow the player legend to be placed BELOW the map, outside of the main graphic, perhaps in a long horizontal line. That way, designers would not need to plan in advance where to put the legend, and there would never be any danger of the legend overlapping important parts of the graphic.
I agree with red.
Maps can be used with a varying number of players, so it is impossible to design an in-map legend that looks good with all possible number of players.
Also with the legend outside the map you give yourself room to mess with the legend down the road. I'm thinking of things like stacking the players in a logical order in case of teams. I haven't suggested that yet as something to work on because it's very low on the totem pole, but it was* always a little annoying to have (for instance) 3 teams of 4 players in WF and have the legend show them like:
A D C B
B A D C
C B A D
* still is in fact

Yes, good idea, I could separate the legend from the map - would you guys still want the option to retain the legend on the map in some cases?
Nah, just separate it out.
I've always found it a pain to have to integrate the legend into my graphic, so I would always choose the external option.
Yeah it has always been more work. The conversions will look kinda weird though but I guess I can put a smiley face in those boxes or something cool. :)
Outside, Outside Outside!!!! I always forget about it and have to spend time trying to find a place for it.
Outside the map would be such a big help.
