I can't put my finger on it, but I love this board. Maybe I'm a sucker for Risky's theme and attention to detail. However, I just like how it plays. Like any apartment, the 'flaws' of the layout force you to make do with what you have and love the time you spend there, especially with friends. There are advantages, and disadvantages to your placement. This forces you to find different ways to make it your own.
I'm shocked this map has such good reviews. The artwork is decent, the cards are nice. That's the only positve things I can really say.
There is a maddening lack of mobility. Why is the kitchen behind a choke point, which is behind the choke point for the dining room? Why is the living room door the most pivotal spot on the map. And the bonuses are no high relative to the number of territories? Others clearly like this map, but I won't play it again.
Rent is Due Again: an exquisitely crafted board that is genius in its simplicity. Having been in Risky's actual apartment, I can tell you that the attention to detail is flawless. From the ladies slippers on the shoe rack to the multiple copies of 'Highlander' on the bookshelf, Risky's apartment is reduced to 1/24th scale but enlarges the fun 100-fold.
It's a good board. Some may complain about the strength of the SW part of the board, but if that is how it is, that's how it is! It looks nice and is straightforward. Good for 3-5.
This is a very typical RiskyBack map. Fun and interesting to play. I love the cards, especially the Throne. I only wish that my first apartment was this big. I may never have left.
love this map, definitely one of the better plays. But could use some improvement on attackability of certain lands, too easy for the first person to capture a room to take it all.
Good choke points, and I really like the updated look over the copy at warfish. Not a hugely strategic board, but is a good game for a handful of people. Throwing in some fog makes for some interesting games as well.
