Liked it previously. Changed my mind now.
The problem of this map is the order of card bonuses. It should be classic 4,6,8,10... order not the 4,5,6,7. Because right now often you've got a stalemate with 3 players until someone says "screw it" and makes a suicide turn.
Well done, fun board -- especially for beginners. Classic feel, clear bonuses. Love the overlay bonuses (although their graphic isn't my favorite). The circles don't look all that great either, but no big deal.
Good idea but some bicoloured territories need better colors as it's unclear which colors they are made of. Also the borders are too complicated thus you can't see clearly which territory has a border with another one. In one word, it's a confusing board.
probably my favorite board, it involves a time period map with good historical understanding and an appreciation of what it must take to truely hold europe. you had better have your head on a swivel or things can go off the rails in a hurry. definitely my favorite.
Some people just don't get it, I guess. This map is visually stunning and the use of the circles instead of fill is great. Whether intended or not I always look at it as a big Frak U to circle maps and that makes me happy.
The overlapping bonuses are well done here, that along with their historical relevance, is what makes this map not a straight Risk map and one of the few geographical maps I play.
