Ok tournaments are already great
But, I do think people should make fewer round robin tournaments. It is very painful being on a bad team and having to drag yourself/your team through the latter half of the tournament when all hope of winning is long gone.
You could:
Find a better teammate (It appears you have only played in one round robin tournament).
Surrender in those tourneys where you have no hope.
Play individual tournaments only
As a Premium Member you could host your very own tournaments and not create any round robin tourneys

But, wanting myself and so many others to stop doing what we CLEARLY enjoy doing because you don't care for it, well it seems a little ____________.
In a nutshell, the best suggestion to not have to wallow around in a losing round-robin tourney is to simply *not* join round-robin tourneys.
As for hootz72's second suggestion... that one I don't agree with. I *hate* when people surrender tourneys because it gives artificial wins to everybody who has not played them yet.
While it may be disheartening to be in a tourney where all hope is gone (trust me, I've been there *many* times, and I have an obsessive need to check tourney scores to see precisely when all hope disappears :-)), you could look at the 'plus' that often remains until near the end of your series -- you get to be a spoiler for the lucky few who are still scrabbling for the trophy. :-)

i love ruining peoples day... thanks for the silver lining
There is a bit of a catch-22 with it.
I would prefer to play in elimination tourneys also, but they are usually too big to fill.
Here are three elimination tourneys that I am in that are waiting for more players.

interestingly, i dont see these in "Open Tournaments". Am i doing something wrong
you've already joined the first one.
on the tourney tab; what is the pull down filter set to on "My Tourneys" section? . I set mine to 'live' and it will show all those i've joined whether they've started (live) or not (open) as long as the tourney is not complete (it would show 'finished') as well as those i've been invited to (invited) but not yet made a decision to join or decline.
below that table, there's another section "Open Tourneys" where you should see any number of them. I see the "Smell tourney there" -- i've joined the other two and they appear in the top section for me..
I think if you have explicitly 'X'd a tourney from your display, it's gone. I haven't found a way to reset that. (i.e. I 'X' out all the tourneys that come up that I don't want to participate in, but on rare occasions I've re-thought my decisions but then can't find a way to display it)

I don't think there is a way. But you can get a link to it from someone who hasn't done so.
Let's try another one -
