    Because that's the way it is.  I suppose it could be seen as a bug, but there are reasonable enough workarounds.

    If you make a post and then another post, and then want to delete the initial post, copy the most recent post - then delete it.  Then, provided you haven't timed out, delete the second post.  Then paste the more recent and re-post it.
