Standard can also be duplicated by universal, but that isn't the point. It is a normal or 'standard' way of using factories. Making it easy for new board designers to understand how to use them is more important than developing some mathematically pure set of instructions.

Yes we are really digging into minutia here. For me having factories types that are unnecessary was confusing, but for a new designer maybe a 'standard' factory is pedagogically useful. I'm not suggesting we change it. Maybe if we had 100 Toms, but with just one, I'd rather he focus his efforts elsewhere. Mainly I wanted to make sure I understood since it all seemed a bit strange to me.
