I think the next board contest should be Zoolander themed.
"It's a walk off!"
Discuss.
I haven't seen it, but I think it's too narrow a category. 'Comedy movies' or something like that I think would work ok.
I think it should be hexes. There are quite a few of those floating around out there, and not too many that work....
We vote at the end of the month for the next theme. I guess this is as good a thread as any to discuss it.
I really want a theme that a lot of people will be able to compete with, so I suggest it be simple and/or broad.
Right now I like:
* Games - could be card games, kids games, video games, board games, etc.
* Homelands, or alternatively any 'Real Life Place'. It seems lots of beginning map makers pick something like this for their first map. Either the town they live in, the country they are from, their place of work or school campus, etc. So I think this could have potential to bring in some new map makers.
i really like the games theme. as it also ties in with sports. :) !!!!!
Ozy, you should repost a link to that document that had the list.
Here is a list of suggestions that have been made in the past:

I suggested Zoolander because I thought it would be awesome/hilarious. But, from the list I think the Ancient Civilizations idea would be cool, the Civ and Total War Series are my most favorite games ever.
Or maybe, Music Video themed... Imagine boards titled Like a Virgin, Video Killed the Radio Star, Baby Got Back, I'm On A Boat, or even Gangnam style...
Comedy may be a good category, as really there aren't a lot of comedy-styled boards, maybe a few here or there and the Dr. Seuss ones could almost semi-fit into that, but overall there is a lot more death/destruction (go figure!) boards.
Patience Itsnotatumor....
I got an idea for a total war (the game) board that I've been cooking for a while now... just working on getting it right...

=D
I think our map makers could make some really awesome Mythology/Religion boards if given a good amount of time.
1. Ancient Civs
2. Mythology
3. Bodies of water (Naval Battles)

I think that's in the wrong place!
I re-posted it here for you:

How should I count the votes for games vs. board games vs. video games? Do we want to count these as all completely separate categories? I voted for generic 'games', but I'd be happy with board or video games as a more specific choice.
I think the less specific probably the better. Broader categories allow for more flexability and creativity.
