In addition to changing the page title to include the number of games I have a turn in, can you also change the FAVICON from the standard green to maybe a red version?
This visual indicator would probably be useful to many.
I use Firefox's "Pinned Tab" feature to keep Wargear always open in my browser. When enabled this makes a tab that is only the favicon and nothing else. (See: http://imgur.com/t9pLO)
Here is some dev talk on the 'howto': http://stackoverflow.com/questions/260857/changing-website-favicon-dynamically/260876#260876
Out of curiosity, why?
So a player would not need to click over to the WG tab to see if it is his/her turn in a game. The tab would light up red indicating so.
When using the "Pinned App Tab" feature, or if your tables are small enough, your don't see the game count in the title, but the favicon would be a clear indicator.
Ahhh, gotchya, didn't realize it was tied to the your turn thing. I see now and sounds kinda cool!
is it me or does the turn indication on the tab not worth it ATM? it doesn't update automatically for me, i have to actually hit update/refresh the page in order for it to show up. (IE9 & FFx)
I'm new here, but from what I can tell the page title and the header update with turn notifications without a full page reload... so they are already polling for updates in the background.
Updates automatically for me in Chrome.
is there a setting i'm missing? i'm not receiving growls either. i've got notify when my turn in reg & real-time turned on.
You're on IE9 now right weathertop?
Good idea re:favicon color, I'm working on it. Note it won't work for IE though due to usual MS flaws.
at home, yes but i haven't been playin at home much lately. at work i've joined the 90's and now have FF10.0!

Skip the 90's and join the 10's(?) and skip right to Chrome!
This should be working now.

Very much appreciated. Thank you!
Works beautifully by the way. Like magic.
Thank you!

tom - Don't see any auto updates on FF10. do i need to change my settings to something specific to see this fix?
Do you use WG at work or at home or both? It could be your work proxy / firewall blocking the instant notification system. Can you browse to beaconpush.com?
I visit WG even in my sleep it seems!
but at work i have FF10, and i can browse to that link so prolly not the firewall. i was able to get them at one time, until the constant growl issue appeared. whatever happened at that time was when i'm guessing that i lost the ability.
at home i have IE9 (thinking about migrating to FF there too).
