The link to images feature is daunting to use, and useless when the link ceases to work. I suspect the reason we can't directly post images in the forums is server space related. The other day, I created a link to a game design with a board image uploaded just for the purpose of showing an image.
How about if, as a Premium Feature if server space is an issue, posters are allowed to post a limited amount of images, maybe 50-100MB/year?
can you just use some free online image hosting site like imgur?

yes - but it is a pain - First I prefer to have as few accounts as possible to maintain, memorize passwords to, etc. Second, it's a multi-step process, when it really should be a one window affair, and last, for some reason, it doesn't always work -- some of these site have 3 or 4 different ways/formats for embedding the image. I want to do it so infrequently that by the time I've relearned how to do it, I've practically forgotten what I was doing. Remember, I'm an old man. The proof is in the pudding.. How often do you see images posted in the forums?
I'll get this set up.
Just to reiterate an embedded part of the suggestion, I think this is a perfect made-for-premium-members type of feature. Server space isn't free, and the feature has no impact on play, etc..
Testing:
It works
Premium feature only for now. Note that images go into your own private folder so you should use unique image names for different images. This has the benefit that you can refer to older images by name if you need.

Test
Didn't seem to work for me. Where are the images stored? Can I rename and delete images in my folder?
Works Great for me. Would be nice to be able to resize in the edit window (which is way too small now that we can bring in images).
New postings seem to work fine. My first attempt was a response to tom's post.
Very easy to use, thanks tom!
Nice! Thx

Ah, yes it's because of spaces in the filename - UNIX doesn't like that. I'll update to rewrite these filenames.
Right now there's no way to manage these images - this would be handy I agree.
