Board DescriptionThere Will Be Blood Drainage! Drainage, Eli, you boy. Drained dry. I'm so sorry. Here, if you have a milkshake, and I have a milkshake, and I have a straw. There it is, that's a straw, you see? You watching?. And my straw reaches acroooooooss the room, and starts to drink your milkshake... I... drink... your... milkshake! [sucking sound] I drink it up! This map is inspired by the 2007 Drama/Revisionist Western "There Will Be Blood" directed by Paul Thomas Anderson and starring Daniel Day-Lewis. Map Layout This map is divided into two sections. The top half is an aerial view of a wide expanse of land with oil drilling platforms and silver mines. The bottom half is underground and shows the oil deposits and pipes to reach them. There are four ways to get extra bonus units: #1) Hordes bonus of +1 in the land squares (you get to place it). #2) Control a Silver Mines to get +2 a turn on that mine #3) Each oil drilling rig you control earns you +1 (you get to place it). #4) Control an oil drilling rig and the pipe to an oil deposit to get +6 a turn on the well. This also reduces the reserve (the units of every player) in the oil deposit by 1 a turn, and when it is gone you no longer get a bonus (see below). You can drain more than one oil well at a time, so if you control all the pipe to 3 reserves, you get +18 a turn on your well. Eliminations If you no longer have any units on land you will be eliminated. Silver Each silver mine you control at the beginning of your turn produces 2 units on that silver mine. You can fortify units between mines. Oil! The real big bonuses come from a working oil well. Once you have a working operation in place it will generate units until you've sucked the well dry (+6/turn) . Once you empty an oil reserve, it is empty for everyone, so get to the oil first. To get a bonus, just control the rig above ground, and all the pipe segments to a reserve. You don't have to fortify units from the reserve or attack the reserve or anything like that, the wargear factories take care of everything for you. But drilling for oil is not easy and some parts of the earth are harder to drill in than others - pipe territories start with 2, 4, or 5 neutral units depending on the stratum they are in (small rocks, big rocks, or marble). Land squares with a oil drilling rig attack the top pipe segment at the bottom of their column. You can fortify extra units from deep underground up to land, but you cannot fortify the other direction. If you need additional units for "drilling", you have to place units directly on your deepest pipe segment You can also fortify down through the pipe, but it might take a few turns if you are deep underground. Oil towers can attack up to 3 away. Immediate neighbors have the default border. Territories 2 away are attacked at -1. Territories three away are attacked at -2. Oil towers can also fortify to territories 4 away. Gameplay Settings
