Hey Tom,
I just got skipped in all (~35) games that I had my turn in 3 hours before my vacation was up. I thought it was decided that vacation was going to be set according to the local time zone of the player.
Not a huge deal, but maybe something to clarify. I would have extended my vacation by a day if I'd known.
Thanks!
Damn... I just found the timezone thing. That wasn't exactly clear, but I guess it's definitely my fault.
It's a shame you don't have a Hot Tub Time Machine. (In theaters this Friday!)
Sorry bengal, although if you left it till the last 3 hours of your vacation to take 35 turns you were definitely pushing it!
Well, in my defense I was planning on adding one day. I didn't know if I was going to have time or not.
I missed that as well and feel like I wasted $10. Came out of vacation mode and pretty quickly skipped all of my turns. :( Guess I should have researched it a bit better, but was a little rushed with an unplanned trip.
Maybe a popup box with an explanation and/or warning (or a link to such) of these complexities when somebody goes to enable their vacation?
Would it hurt to have the turn timer start when vacation ends? I assumed that this would be the case for some reason and had a nasty surprise.
A link on the vacation settings page to a "how-to" in the help pages seems like the way to go.
Also a pop-up if someone tries to end a vacation that will result in skips. e.g. "Do you know that ending your vacation now will result in skipped turns?"
Vacation is really that tough?
People do seem to goof it, and for me it is *the* reason to go premium. So if I goofed it I would be pretty upset too.
Premium members get a 1-day grace period to all vacations.

as long as vacations are rounded up to the nearest day so that you cannot take a 1 hour vacation that is really a day.
Lol Premium members GET vacation :P. Whereas Standards don't. So why not just set vacation to an extra day? :P
Vacations are only taken in day increments.
You can ignore post 13 then (maybe Yertle will delete 13-15).

Have you been reading this thread?

I don't think that is the case. I set a vacation a few weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure as soon as it ended I was skipped in all the turns I hadn't played (my fault for not setting the vacation longer - I was gone longer than expected) :P.
I agree with others that the simple addition of more text to the vacation settings page would do the trick.

That was a suggestion from Mongrel, not a statement toward how the current system works.
Ah.
