Surely this has been brought up, but is the Global Warfare board missing a border from Southern Europe to North Africa?
From what I've found, Risk has always included that as a border (the one that has changed is Middle East to East Africa). Toaster's Wargear Warfare has the border, as does Cram's War.
The graphics don't show a border (so that would have to change), so was it intended?
Just a bit curious, then curious if it should be changed.

Wow. I do believe you're right. Amazing that it hasn't been spotted before!
I'll update it.
Hah, I just figured that was how the mapmaker wanted it for that one.
Done :)
You updated the graphics as well? Like Scourge, I just figured that was the way you made it.
I'm wondering if changes like this should trigger a message to all players currently in games on that board. Or maybe a message to that games' message board. Graphics changes aren't a big deal, but in this case it can significantly alter how a game plays out (for example if Southern Europe wasn't high on units because N Africa was owned by the same player, but a new avenue of attack is now open). Just something to think about.
It doesn't change games in progress, does it?
In this case it does, several of the games I'm in now have the new border. I believe it has something to do with fixing a live board vs. retiring the board and then re-promoting a new version to live. Not positive on that though...
Maybe for changes like this boards should always be retired/re-promoted?
True, sorry generally when there is a missing border bug in a board we dynamically update but this would probably have been better fixed with a new version.
I think the difference here is a graphical one. In most boards in which a dynamic fix happens, two territories share a graphical border but the gameplay border didn't get added correctly. However, in this case the board did not show that those territories connected. I think that's the reason it hasn't been commented on before, as others said we all just thought it was designed that way.
Maybe this can be used as a board modification guideline in the future?
Agreed - I've gone back to the original version of the board and have updated to a new version.
All existing games will play out on the old version of the board with the missing border.

Good guideline and makes sense. I haven't really updated many boards (due to missing borders or continent fixes), but there are definitely some Changes/Rules that shouldn't be made to Live versions.

that reminds me to bring up a good question, tom. do you have the ability to mass email everyone that's signed up? i actually had a reason to ask that yesterday, but can't remember what it was now.
