did we ever get the ability to start a tourney on a DEV board?

    I'm a man.
    But I can change,
    if I have to,
    I guess...

I don't know, but I like the idea. Would be a nice way to knock out several games quickly on a map that is almost ready, but not quite for submission.

I would love for this except I don't know that they would fill up.

In the mean time, please help me Dev Test this map that I actually changed based on suggestions from other games.  I'm evolving!

I was never that keen on the idea to be honest... seems like they wouldn't be that popular plus you'd have to restart all the games in the tournament if you discovered a design flaw - you'd need to manage communication around that etc. So I'm not sure it's that workable.

There were several beta tournaments on WF. They were usually well received... something exciting  about trying the latest from their favorite designer.

People implicity clicked the "I accept that this tournament might blow up" button when they enter. Keep em small, give designer privileges to kill the whole tournament, don't make the games count towards rank. If there's a flaw... kill the tournament and start another. Done!

This isn't imperative, but would be nice later on.

    Longest innings. Most deadly.

I was in favor of this idea but after reading tom's rationale I agree with him.

i understand tom's reservation, but do think that if we kept them small (especially for now) that we could get 8-16 player ones up and going pretty quickly. and given the ones that would prolly join are all developers themselves would understand the risk of joining.

but i also think that tourney's wouldn't be used until one has most of the kinks worked out. kind of a final run thru to get many ppls final opinion on how the board works...

I agree this would be a handy tool from the board designer perspective. What about having DEV tourneys that are Private only, i.e. they have to fill by direct invite? That way they wouldn't take up space on the public listing, and they would be encouraged to be smaller. Plus, it would be the host's/designer's personal responsibility to make sure they fill. Thoughts?
