Antastic has never been a personal favorite of mine but at some point you can't argue with results. This board was one of the first created on Wargear and in fact it was imported from the Old Country. What's amazing is that while it may have been imitated, it has never been replaced or unseated as the most popular map of its type for going on 7 years now. And that speaks for itself.
Great dueling board, great 16-player board. Room enough to show your skills (or lack) and room enough to recover from mistakes.
A good board for people who are relatively new but looking for a challenge - what you see here is what you get, no capitals, no factories, no special borders. Just lots and lots of dead-ends, bottlenecks, and tricky choices.
This is the board designers first instinct. "I want to make risk, but have lots of continents that are easy to get and have choke points between them" and this map pulls it off excellently well. It's supurb in it's balance, gameplay and flexibility. The board plays very differently with 2 player and heavy fog, than 3 players and light fog to 8 players with no fog! Try them all.
This board is incredibly fun, and is really about strategy more than anything else. Only reason I'm not giving it a 10 is that some of the bonuses in the map are unbalanced. They're all based on the number of individual "territories" within the "continent" but not at all on difficult to guard. So you can hold something for a 1-troop bonus with 4 attack lanes versus other places you hold with only 2 possible attack lanes for 5 troops. But it's still a really fun map to play.
