Would it be possible to post a notification in the player for when an opponent offers to surrender? Not everyone posts a message that they've offered to surrender nor does everyone always notice messages that have been posted right away. In a real-time game, this would be particularly helpful as one doesn't even think to look for a surrender until the surrendering player's turn has been skipped and so that wastes a lot of time.
It would also be good if the option to accept the surrender was there as well. On many occasions, I've had to point out to others that someone has offered to surrender and explain to them how to accept the surrender.
On a related note, the boot status should be displayed in the player for similar reasons. Yea, it can be an advantage to the experienced player who can check for this and use that knowledge to their advantage, but it's not something based on skill, but just exploiting a weakness in the game interface and it'd be good to eliminate all such things.
It wouldn't surprise me if Tom has already been playing around with the notion of combining the player and the game page into one so that you don't have separate screens for each. That would solve a lot of problems.
