It's like Risk, some territory names have changed cause I'm sly like that, and I added a border from Siam to New Guinea. Because I can.
Wow! Ground-breaking in it's lack of ground broken! A supremely original derivative! Pushes the boundaries of lack of boundary pushing! Will take you to the edge of your seat if you happen to be sitting on a very skinny seat!
Haha hey it looks cool. I think there should be a category for Risk-based maps, they are popular and I there will probably be a few dozen of them as the site grows. Could also do categories for World Maps, European Maps, etc.
As a side note, anyone else notice how huge Krock's France map is? It's HUGE!
I noticed, and get a little annoyed at the size sometimes. But I can't really complain, because I've released some pretty tall maps before :)
@ Cram: I like the watercolor look to it. Did you use a plugin for that or is it a Paint.NET staple? I have just recently started using Paint.NET, and am actually starting to like it over my Photoshop due to it's ease of use.

To be honest, EM, I've had so many plugins for so long (and always use the latest Beta version which bakes in some plugins that aren't in the original), that I don't know if it's a plugin or baked in. The effect is called "Oil Painting" and falls under the effects menu flyout "Artistic."
Don't be surprised if you see it change a little bit graphically. I tested the fill using sky blue, yellow, and neutral, which are all very light. It looked much better than once I saw a game played with dark colors. I'm tweaking it a bit. And loving the fact that I can change the map image and see it change the live game. Great, great feature.

Until you change it to where you have a +15 bonus...or are there certain restrictions?
Dunno. Haven't tried everything. I know when I added territories to a map I already had in play, it showed them as blank, black spaces and no one could attack to them, despite them being attached with borders.
If I have to reversion to change other elements thats fine, as long as I'm always free to change the graphics around. I might even do seasonal changes to some maps if I find the time!
Aye, small graphical stuff would be cool (as long as it doesn't change country layout), but shouldn't be able to change continents/countries/borders to a Live Public (Ranked) game IMO. I would almost have a tough time accepting big changes like continents/countries/borders to a Released Public board, or else you would probably need a whole new Ranked list.
I just changed the bonus for Africa to 10 in the designer and saved it. I can't find anywhere to check in game if it actually affected the continent so that I can change it back before someone gets it...
Does anyone know where to look to find continent values?

Game >> Launch Player (Flash) >> Board >> Continents >> Drop Down Menu >> Africa... still says +3.
Invited you to a game to see if it is Live in the new game.
Didnt change in the old one, or the new one. When I go back into the board designer, it shows 3 again. Really just need some kind of message stating that the save failed to include changes.
Ooo I love the idea of changing the map for Christmas and whatnot. Although that does sort of sneak by the review process. I guess if you* are trusted with a reviewed map then it's OK to trust you with not uploading a replacement image that sucks?
*Generic you.

As long as its only around for a week-month, I don't mind if generic you puts up a crappy holiday theme. As long as its not tooo crappy. But yeah, probably within the realm of reason.
Hmmm, being allowed to change the board image while a game is Live is an oversight on my part. I think I'd go with Yertle's point that Live boards should be locked as they will be used for ranked gameplay although it could be very handy for designers I guess.
You should only be able to update boards (other than the board description) when they are in the Dev state, even if you are an approved designer. You should get a warning message saying you can only update the board description when you load a Live board in the Designer.
So the correct route to update a board after it has gone Live would be to create a new version copy and then promote the new version to Live. The existing Live version becomes Retired and existing games can play out undisturbed. Once a board has been reviewed any designer can make updates to it without needing to go back through the review process.
I will set it so that both Dev and Submitted boards can be updated at any time, this way boards under review can also be updated during the review games, saves having to terminate the game and restart.
Missing border on your War map Cram: Mongolia to Kamchatka.
Thanks, Yertle. Fixed, newly versioned.
Bah?!?!?! What happened to all the Continents?!
in what way?
Cramchakle wrote: in what way?
In that there are NO continents! (Good example HERE too.)
interesting. i dont recall doing anything with them. tom, can you check logs on something like that? is it some other bug - maybe related to what can and can't be changed after a board goes live?
