TLDR....yet! hehe
As far as the Welcome to WarGear help page, I updated it again: http://www.wargear.net/help/display/Welcome%20to%20WarGear
Tried to condense a few things and added a Membership/Settings and Community/Support section. Still may be lengthy, so I'm open to suggestions or complete obliteration if it still looks junky.
Also updated the http://www.wargear.net/help/display/Joining%20or%20creating%20a%20game page to include Creating a game.

Great work thanks Yertle... only concern is it's a big chunk of info to wade through if you are a newcomer. I'm trying to think about how it could best be presented without turning them off.

I agree, not too sure it solves the complete problem (sounds like Toaster's wizard may overall be better/quicker/easier to grasp), but perhaps just this info could help more than it hurts, at least players are presented with something without going to look for it.
That's also why at one time I had thought an email a day for 5-7 days.
Maybe throw in an extended Rules day and even potentially small Board Design sample. But this way it's more spread out, although there are pros/cons to that as well.

maybe the emails after a quick wizard, could edit the emails to be more detailed or not go over what was in the wizard. plus you could put a mention of them in the wizard so they're expecting them.
finally found one with a good, simple to-the-point interactive:
