Ratsy, I don't think you read some of the original posts closely enough. They mention a time period.
Righto. Resets every month, I was just on a roll there...
I just want to clarify that I am NOT in favor of the disappearance of the all-time boot count. Maybe I didn’t express myself correctly. I was suggesting the possibly of subtracting a certain number, say 1 or 2 boots, each month or every 2 months. Whatever the WG community deems best. We all have days we can’t access the internet and it would be nice if one could “recuperate†a number of boots.
I don’t think the all-time boot count is something we should abandon.

I was suggesting the possibility.... (not the possibly)
sorry

I'm certainly up for putting a limit on joining or starting games when certain thresholds have been reached. Should this be all games / just realtime?
What are everyone's views on this?
Awww... My perfect 700+ game bootless record is now meaningless...

Which makes one wonder - are there people who normally avoid getting booted who might actually be willing to take the occasional boot knowing their record will be wiped clean? I like the idea of a boot expiry system, but I wouldn't mind also seeing an average boots/month or similar stat.

Agreed...or maybe slower boot removal (maybe 2 per month per Teamster's idea).
I agree that 30 days seems like too short for complete boot forgiveness.
There are a couple different ways you could apply penalties:
This is more complicated, but i think the best system would incorporate a level of punishment.
Something like:
Level 1 - warning / cool down
Criteria = 1 Boot WITHIN 7 Days
Penalty = Can only join/start games if it is not your turn in any games.
Level 2 - Probation
Criteria - 3 boots in 7 days, or 10 boots in last 30 days.
Penalty - Can only start/join 3 game a day.
Level 3 - Misdemeanor
Criteria - 10 boots in 7 days, or 20 boots in last 30 days.
Penalty - Can only start/join 1 game a day.
Level 4 - Felony
Criteria - 20 boots in 7 days, or 40 boots in last 30 days.
Penalty - Can not join/start games until penalty level goes down.
These numbers of course could be tweaked, and I was thinking of them in the context of daily+ turn games. RT games might be better served with different values.
I just want to reiterate that something needs to be done about this. The number of people who stall and or leave games when they are losing on this site is uncanny.
I never know what to do when a player misses a single turn. Are they coming back? Should I focus on the other players? Should I use the opportunity to take away their bonuses? Would that be a complete waste of armies because they're going to be booted? In a game I'm currently playing with hordes I decided to leave a player alone who skipped one turn instead of taking away bonuses. He got two turns worth of bonuses and got a huge benefit that he wouldn't have gotten if he hadn't skipped his turn. I understand skips happen to everyone, but it'd be nice if someone has a good idea about how to fix that problem.
