just had all my initial placements vanish without a trace after the first attack. and at a critical moment in the game. I did not hit the multi attack button.

The same thing just happend to me. I placed 10 units on angola and when i attacked they just disapeared.. In the history you can see that i didnt place any units. Can this be restored?

That board allows reserves so you have to click on 'Apply' in Placement phase to ensure the units are placed. Otherwise they go into your reserves when you commence your first attack.
