    is there no ability to see the board description info and study the map if i were invited to a game before i join and the game starts? currently i can 'see' the enlarged board by clicking the thumbnail and i can see the rules, but i can't get the map or description info from that join page...

    You can get the board number to go to the designer page (I believe tom reenabled that for everyone).

    And the board page has the Description.

    tho i do have a question. it says both DEV and Review on the join page, what's with that?

    All review games are classed as Dev games - i.e. they don't count towards rankings and the boards can be changed mid-game by the designer.
