I think this was suggested before, but I would like to suggest the ability to create a "group" so that that when I create a private game, instead of inviting the same players, I can just invite the group.  Same thing for tournaments.  I think that there can also be some site wide groups, that is site groups that are defined that every player can invite.  One such group could be "Board Testers" which players could opt into on the profiles.

Good idea.  Similar to friends, but with arbitrary user defined tags.

Could also have people who favorited a certain board be a group.  Then have it so you can invite that group when you start a tournament on that board.

Mongrel and I were talking about this last night, good suggestion.  This should be a site wide group.  For each board have a group defined that is auto-magically filled with those who favorited the board.

That's a great idea... actually it could be an option for the instant notification system, i.e. 'display an instant notification if anyone starts a game on one of my favorite boards'.
