When are earned units calculated?  Are all units (inlcuding bonus units) earned immediately at the end of your turn or at the beginning of your turn?

This makes a huge difference in strategy: 

If I earn units at the end of the turn, then I want to take over whole territories that offer a bonus, without regard to losing that territory.  This offers more control and is more offensive in nature.

If, however, I earn units at the begininng of a turn, then I want to defend my own territory from an opponent who wishes to spoil my bonus (by attacking a fragment of a whole area that offers a bonus).

Units are calculated at the beginning of your turn.
