I haven't played it yet, what do people find to be the best strategy or at least biggest mistakes to make in Squirrels of Suburbia?

Biggest mistake to make is two fold. Leaving more than 1 unit on any territory that defends with a zero sided die (most of them) and conversely hitting the 3 instead of the T or A. You only get three attacks per turn, their precious.
I can tell you this, take your time. Don't commit to attacking another nutpile until your sure you have enough nut in your own.
