I am wondering...Do you map makers still get that warm feeling whenever someone chooses to play a board that you've created?
In the words of John Wesley, "I felt my heart strangely warmed" ^_^
since i only have a couple and they're not as elegant as a lot of the newer ones coming out...yes.
I am always surprised by the support / appreciation of one of my new boards and I am overjoyed when I see that players are starting games on them. This feeling is heightened when a tournament is created by another player and when boards that have been out for a while are still getting played.
Thank you all for the support.
Yeah, It's a good feeling. I wish I had time to make more.
Yes, I think it's what motivates a lot of designers (at least I find satisfaction in others playing my boards). On the flip side, it's always a let down to release a board which I, as the designer, am super excited about, and then have it largely ignored. I find it relatively easy to make an "elegant" board (or at least not bad), but the "fun to play" bit is much more difficult, and frequently eludes me. Some of the other designers are much better in this regard, and I have tremendous respect for that.
It's less the warm feeling, and more the return to normal from the addiction-shivers that certain villains get when painfully hooked to certain online substances.
