I think we are a go for Siege, and IMO maps need to be not-live before the theme is decided, and ideally they should be created specifically for this competition.

It just seems so generic.. define siege theme as it pertains to this competition please.
Maybe I'm overthinking it.

I defined it as: "Castles, Fortresses, and Sieges".
So any sort of fortress based map, or a map with castles. Maybe something with siege machines like catapults. You could do a historic map about some famous siege or castle.It is kind of general, which I think will be interesting. Pangaea was so specific, that the maps were pretty similar. This competition we will be testing the opposite side of that, with a very general theme.
At least it is only 4 months until the next contest.

Which I thought was kind of a strength because there was no boards existing that fit that "theme". Weathertop does have my sympathy that he recently created a board for this site that fits the theme.

Which is cool, but I know of at least two people who have Dev boards that fit the theme. I guess they should count themselves "lucky" that they haven't tried to release them yet?

I'm fine with whatever you guys decide, BUT........Don't we have enough castle/fortress/siege styled maps already? I count roughly 16 maps that involve castles/fortress/sieges..

I'm nowhere near part of the competition, but after reading all the forum posts, I was going to present a possible future theme, which could be used now if Seige gets voted out: Biologic
It's an example in nature where lots of competition/embattlement occurs, which is not related to an actual battlefield.

I'm up for whatever... If we are changing themes, my only suggestion would be to pick something that isn't as specific as pangea. We now have a saturation of similar pangea maps. It would be nice if the theme were broad enough, so that when it's done, we have a lot of different maps, though tied by a loose theme. I kind of agree that it should be a map for this competition specifically, but if this is going to be the case it should definitely be in the rules.

I think we should each make one or two official nominations. Since this is a holiday weekend, I think we should give until end of day on Tuesday for everyone to get a chance to make nominations. Then on wednesday we start a voting thread, with all the nominations. Everyone that wants to vote ranks all the nominations. We have 2 days to vote, and then we use IRV to determine the winning theme.

I thought the original plan was to categorize them all together or make them all mods of the same board or something.
