just as long as u start ur turn in 2 mins but u really have a back up 10 min once ur turn activates could be a option that way u kill off the no shows asap and get to a game realitivly fast just thibking out loud here Cheers!
I don't know about this back up as I find it too long, unless it's 10 minutes for the whole game. I believe having to play fast would be interesting as you could expect mistakes just because of that. Even chess players have 'blitz' game where you have a total amount of time to play the whole game.
I do a lot of real-time games but I have been burned with the following scenario:
- set upreal time game
- wait an hour
- forget I have an open game (for 2 players only) after waiting a (sometimes few) hours and walk away/go to bed
- find out someone joined the real-time game 4 hours later and I'm booted.
Is there a way for a realtime game to have a check-in? Might sound silly, but it's even sillier for a real-time game to be on the board for more than 12 hours. I browse games and see real-time games that were created 12, sometimes 36 hours ago. I know that guy isn't still here, waiting for 1 (or sometimes 3) other players to join.
Maybe have real-time games expire after an hour?
Angus's is a pretty good idea. Starting the turn indicates activity and activates an "I'm here" clock. Problem is ..we still don't have an "It's Your Turn" timer, so 2 minutes to check in is cutting it close. I'm thinking something like a 4/6 Angus Timer would be manageable and speed things up a bit.

Exp. is a good idea. If no-one joins your game after an hour or two, it's not a big deal recreate it.

Unless 3 of the 4 are still there just waiting for the 4th and then it's pretty annoying I'd guess.

Exactly.. Hmm, just checked out the Chrome download count. ..9
I doubt that most people know about these. I couldn't find links or references to it in the help section or on the home page (not that I looked very long).
Also, the minimum polling time for the Chrome extension is 5 mins. That's close to worthless for lightning games.

And it's the first thread on the General forums. (Perhaps it could be in the Welcome forums, a Sticky there may not be a bad idea.)
I believe tom is working on better support for lightning games for the add-ons.

I have had this issue as well. I created a real time game to play over the weekend and no one joined and there is another real time game sitting that someone created over a week ago.
I suspect we should ask for something like 1 hour or some other interim length other than 2 days.
Real time games are great but it's hard to create them for anything more than 3 players. Two-player real-time games are alive and thriving.
Who do we email to get a change and so that that when a real time game finally fills that we get an email and some warning?

You can turn on notifications in your settings, but there is not currently a game started notification just a your turn.
