The mechanics and victory conditions for this board are NOT standard.
Non-standard Mechanics:
You can only bring your reinforcements on from the TOP and BOTTOM of the board. You will not have access to your reinforcements until you create a supply line to them.
Victory Conditions:
The object of this game is to transfer at least 17 units from your "Reinforcements" territory to the "Victory" territory in the lower left hand legend.
The only way to do this is to create a complete supply line from anywhere on the top of the board to the VERY bottom of the board (or vice versa). Because the board allows you to transfer units to any connected spaces, you may use both of your two transfers to move those units into the "Victory" territory (the middle box of the legend. Finally, and on your very next turn, you must deliver the coup de grace by attacking from the Victory box to your opponent's capital.
The "Victory" territory has a -16 per turn booby trap to keep you from moving units into that box before you have completed your supply line. You need to transfer 17 or more units to the middle box IN ONE TURN so it's important to have at least 9 troops in your reinforcements to transfer to the victory box.
Rules and Other Considerations
The territory bonus is 1 unit per 8 territories held with a minimum of 3 each turn. Also, the British receive an additonal 4 units on British Reinforcements" (in the lower left hand legend), while the French receive only 3 additional units per turn. There is a territory cap of 8 units.Just a reminder: Reinforcements are fortified on from the TOP and BOTTOM of the board. You will not have access to them until you create a supply line to them.Placement is DISABLED on territories that are not on a road. BUT, Off-road territories are stronger positions, they attack roads with a 7v5 sided dice advantage and defend from roads with a 5v6 sided dice advantage. There are 6 attacks per turn.Return to Attack is OFF - this makes it tricky to manage resources, but it is a requirement in order for the board to work properly.Abandon is ON, with retention. Napoleon's forces move first, but they recieve no per/terrtory bonus on the first turn.
Helpful Hints
Establishing a supply line from the top or bottom of the board to your forces is very important. Your tactics early in the game usually should involve a balance beween quickly and efficiently establishing solid front line positions and creating your supply-line(s).
