There may someday be a 3rd edition of Invention, so this is a place to think about all that.

Possible Changes

Technologies

Instead of having only certain techs skippable. Maybe make every tech be able to attack the next tech, or skip to attack the one after. This would require a lot of rethinking, as players could get Artillery, and then skip right to Nuclear ICBM, which might be tricky to balance. Or possibly just do this for the blue tech tree?

World Wonders

Wonders of the World (WW) 6 or 8 sit on the side of the map Top to bottom is bronze, silver, gold, platinum. Each starts with zero units. Is defended by a shield icon (like in civ how the shield represnted production). Shields have 10,15,20,25 neutrals. Once you get through the shield, you take the wonder & no one can take it from you. Shields are attacked from capitals at -1, or from a specified, relevant tech at +0 (+1). Each civ has one WW that it is 'predisposed' to, which it can attack from the capital at +0

Can move some of these up or down 'medal' scale by adjusting their bonus:

Bronze - Great Library - Laboratories are worth +2 each instead of +1 each Bronze - Oracle - see everythign on boarrd (satellite + capitals, plus plane/jet, plus techs… is this worth it?)

Silver - Peace through Mutually Assured Destruction - reduce all war techs by +5 at start of owning players turn, includes owning player & neutrals. Silver - (Decay) - Take -1 from every tech at the beginning of your round. (will mostly affect war techs& force attack even when 2v1 and 1v1, will also affect neutral counts, so will allow easier capture & hold of all techs) Forces a shift from red to green strategy? Silver - Reduce all opponent library bonuses by 1. Silver - Laboratory pairs give +2 each instead of +1 each Silver - +6 units/turn on capital

Gold - (Pestillence) - Take -2 from every enemy ground territory including capital. Gold - +5 units/turn on plane & jet each turn Gold - +1 each turn on every war tech. (Military Industrial Complex) Gold - +1 on every territory in the world you control.

Platinum - Unconquerable. All territories in your super content revert to your control at the beginning of your turn. (Do this with a +1 factory that grants control, and then a -1 factory later in time to remove that extra unit) (Does this happen before or after green techs trigger?)

Other Thoughts

Allow players to attack directly from the flask to a tech. Maybe add a sub tech with extra neutrals they have to go through if they want to jump ahead.
